The course in Accounting I teaches the student basic understanding and appreciation of the business world in which we work and live. The study of accounting helps students to understand how businesses function in society.Students are prepared for employment and are encouraged to keep accurate records of their finances in order to budget their incomes wisely.

Accounting I, which deals with sole proprietorship bookkeeping, will also help the student who plans to operate his/her own business keep the records necessary to ensure success. Students keep records in journals and ledgers, learn the basics of financial statements, and complete a simulation of accounting practices for a sole proprietorship.
